- Ran a weekly summer hackathon – ultimately reaching [303s / 10x 960MB blocks] – enough for Bitcoin to process all the txns on Earth.
- L2L releases a 2nd testnet – this one a Core-clone (full 920k+ blocks, and full 800 GB txn history).
- Accepted an invitation to debate a whole room full of lightning devs at once. (See the results for yourself.)
2024
- Produced CUSF – a way of doing any soft fork, without modifying Bitcoin Core at all.
- Produced a working testnet, demoing Bip300 with fake coins – try it.
2023
- Gathered 50+ endorsements from the top Bitcoin minds.
- Named #27th most influential person in Crypto.
- Appeared on Nic Carter’s podcast – Nic referred to me as the “Steely Dan” of Bitcoin – ie, the Bitcoin expert’s expert.
2022
- Wrote “Lightning Limitations” (which inspired several copycats) – first as mailing list posts and second as a blog post. Finally the emperor was revealed to have no clothes, and other people were finally comfortable agreeing – this led to the collapse of the Bitcoin Orthodox (“lightning for payments”) and the rise of ‘Bitcoin Season 2’
- Produced EthSide – a Bitcoin L2 which is a perfect clone of an Ethereum geth full node.
- Raised $3 M to create LayerTwo Labs – “Making every transaction a Bitcoin txn”.
2021
- Published three essays on the future of Bitcoin – scaling, privacy, and fundamental value.
- Published a sequel to my “Security Budget” article.
- (All of these essays are way ahead of their time.)
2020
- Organized & managed a special contest, to create a zk-snark drivechain.
2019
- Wrote Security Budget in the Long Run – way ahead of its time.
- Someone on the internet really liked my “Map-Territory Epistemology”
- I wrote “The Consent of the Governed” – a rejection of Spooner’s anarchism.
2018
- Created & released the first drivechain.
- Published Deniability – a privacy tool, beloved by Alex Kravets (creator of Google autocomplete), and later a pull request into Bitcoin Core (still not merged) – and implmented by me in DriveNet.
2017
- Appeared on the Developer Table to reject SegWit2x.
- On the Program Committee for Scaling IV (Stanford).
- Still getting job offers from Blockstream.
- Published two BIPs: 300 and 301.
2016
- Two mammoth presentations that –to this day– are ahead of their time:
- Oct 8 – Scaling III presentation – about shrinking the blocksize and getting greater scale.
- Yes, I was always a smallblocker.
2015
- Jan 28 – Vitalik replies to my “P+e attack” (which I had previously raised, in the comments section of his “SchellingCoin” which seems to no longer exist)
- Aug 4 – Published “Nothing is Cheaper Than Proof-of-Work” which quickly became famous (cited here among other places).
- Nov 24 – Published “Drivechain”.
- Spoke at both Scaling I (Montreal) and Scaling II (Hong Kong)
2014
- May 3 – Truthcoin (“Bitcoin Prediction Markets”) rose to the top of Hacker News. Apparently it is viewed favorably by Scott Alexander of slatestarcodex.
- May 27 – Created “Truthcoin Talk” forum. It is quickly joined by vitalik, gwern, and “toast” aka Nikolai Mushegian (who later created MakerDAO / was possibly assassinated by the CIA)
- June 9 – I discuss truthcoin on the OG “Let’s Talk Bitcoin” show.
- Novemeber – I am offered a partnership by Blockstream.
- December – I am offered a full-time Bitcoin job, by Roger Ver.
2013
- Dec 2, 2013 - Published “Truthcoin” – decentralized bitcoin prediction markets – this concept later became Augur, Gnosis, and led to ChainLink, PolyMarket, etc.
Pre-Bitcoin
- 2012-2014 - Statistician at Yale Econ Department. Worked closely with Bill Nordhaus, who later won the Nobel Prize.
- 2010-2012 - Obtained 2x Masters degrees in 2 years. GMAT (99th percentile).
- 2007-2010 - Obtained 2x BA degrees in 3 years. SAT (98th percentile).
